Through photo and video updates, immersive, hands-on learning activities and the free curriculum provided by Discover Dairy, students gain a deeper understanding of dairy farming and how milk is produced before it reaches their table. The cost for this will vary from farm to farm or sanctuary depending on factors such as the number of winter months the cows need to eat hay, and whether caretakers are volunteers or paid workers. Each classroom that enrolls in the Adopt a Cow program is paired with a calf from a dairy farm. The program culminated in live chats, where students could interact with the farmer, meet the calves, and get questions answered in real time.
